Mimic Gifts is an eco-friendly, independent retail shop & website retailing locally handmade Soaps, Bath Bombs, Shampoo Bars, Conditioner Bars, Candles, Wax Melts, Eco Gifts, Plantable seeded Cards, Reusable Cloth Nappies, Wuka Period Pants, CSP and a Pick’n’Mix which is all Vegan & Gluten-free.
In-store we have a large refill station for liquids such as Shower Gels, Bubble Bath, Shampoo, Moisturising Lotion, Kaolin Clay Facemasks, Diffuser Oils, Bath Salts and Household cleaners; Washing Up Liquid, Laundry Detergents, Cleaning Vinegar. Bring an empty bottle!
We are proud that all our products are Vegan, Cruelty-free, SLS-Free, Paraben-Free and we’re happy to advise on ingredients in products if you have allergy concerns.
How it started
Mimic Gifts started in 2013 as 'pocket money' business progressing from stocking a 'shelf' in a local store, to Gift/Christmas fairs, to a permanent Saturday slot on Leighton Buzzard Market. Then in Summer 2019, a shop in Hockliffe Street came up for rent and after a lot of number-crunching, worrying, hoping... we got the keys and moved in!
In early 2023 we've moved to bigger store - albeit only 4 doors down from old shop!
The new shop is actually a very old…. Albeit a stunning grade II listed building in the heart of Leighton Buzzard. Feel to free to check out the original features including fireplaces, bread ovens, servants entrance and 500 year old ice-cave (accessed via the cellar) whilst you are here. Did you know there is rumoured to be tunnels running Leighton Buzzard town centre? We can show you the blocked up access to the tunnel that used to run to the fire station. Just ask!

Hi, I'm Sarah,
Business owner. I'd like to just source pretty bath bombs and create pretty giftsets but it turns out running a business is a whole heap of paperwork, accounts, website admin, social media, serving on the shop floor, mopping up spills and forward planning! Its been a steep learning curve since leaving my IT career 12yrs ago but turns out, I love to be busy!
I'm married with 2 pre-teen children, I like hiking and travelling and one day i'd like to have the time to get back into horse-riding!
Hi, I'm Kay.
Jokingly referred to as "Chief Minion", you'll generally find Kay happily chatting to customers (she brightens everyone's day), serving at the counter, assisting with refills, packing & posting website orders. Her favourite thing is a quick guided tour of the building & explaining its pentiful history & quirks (do ask her if you are in-store)
Other stuff (probably important bits)
Online orders are posted out same day if ordered before 12pm, or after 12 they might make into todays post bag … but if not, it will be next day, especially during busy periods i.e. Christmas, Mother’s Day etc.
Our store is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9:30am-5pm.
